"Explanation and fundamentality"

This paper is on the metaphysics of explanation in two senses. First, it addresses the questions: "what is an explanation?", "what is the difference between a world were explanations occur and one in which they don’t?", "what features an explanation cannot fail to have?". Secondly, it sketches the outline of a notion of explanation (which can be labeled "metaphysical explanation"), which -- although it has specific applications in philosophical investigation -- aims at catching a core element of the explanatory enterprise as such. Speaker Giuliano Torrengo is assistant professor at the University Milan, where he teaches Philosophical Analysis. His main topics of investigations are philosophy of time, and analytic metaphysics.
