Matteo Plebani (Caí Foscari University, Venice): Subject matter. A modest proposal

Zum Vortrag:

We present an account of subject matter (SM) inspired by David Lewis' work. Our account shares the attractive features of Lewis' original account, but it has also a number of advantages. In particular, our framework provides a fine-grained account of sentential SM, which is missing from Lewis proposal.

Zur Person:

Dr Matteo Plebani (Caí Foscari University, Venice) works on topics at the intersection between the philosophy of mathematics, metaphysics and the philosophy of language, like the platonism-nominalism debate in the philosophy of mathematics and recent work on the notions of subject matter and partial truth. The paper he presents at our colloquium is co-authored with Prof. Giuseppe Spolaore (University of Padua).
