Markus Schrenk

Philosophy at the HHU

Our focus areas within the field of Theoretical Philosophy in the Department of Philosophy at HHU Duesseldorf include metaphysics, philosophy of the sciences, logics, philosophy of language as well as philosophy of mind and cognition. Practical Philosophy has its centers of gravity in political philosophy, moral philosophy and applied ethics. With regard to the history of philosophy, the focus is on the philosophy of antiquity and medieval philosophy. In its methodological orientation, philosophy at HHU is committed to the analytic tradition.

Exchange collaborations with universities in other European countries give students the opportunity to spend up to 12 months at one of our partner universities abroad in the context of Erasmus. Our course offerings benefit from two research institutes with a strong international orientation:undefined the Duesseldorf Center for Logic and Philosophy of Science (DCLPS) and the German Whitehead Society.
